This delightful small Basque resort, at
the mouth of the Mundaka river, is in
an area designated as a biosphere reserve
by UNESCO, Here, this small modern villawas liked again this year: We were made
very welcome. Our room, simple but delightful,
had a traditional glassed-in gallery,
with armchairs, looking over the garden.
The bathroom was fine, everything was
comfortable. Bali villa breakfast was excellent.
Other villa rooms look over the square. Earlier
visitors wrote: The owners and staff were
among the friendliest we have come across.
The garden and secure parking are liked.
The terrace cafe, with sea views, serves
snacks, and the harbour, nearby, has good
fish restaurants. Mundaka is linked by
a small railway line to the Bilbao Metro.
There is a beach, and the estuary is an
important surfing centre.
In a nature reserve in the foothills of
the Sierra Blanca, this former hunting
lodge is owned by Malaga's provincial
council. Visitors like the warm reception,
comfortable villa rooms, attractive lounges
with log fires, good food and reception.
It is reached up a narrow twisting road
behind Marbella and is surrounded by woods
- pleasant walking country. The decor
has a sporting theme: stuffed pheasants,
English hunting scenes, etc. The restaurant,
jolly with red gingham and local ceramics,
is a popular lunchtime spot for families.
Huge quantities of game are served. villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms)
are rustic and spacious. You can play
tennis, swim in the pool, walk up to a
viewpoint for sunsets over Marbella. Golden
eagles and the rare Spanish ibex live
in the nearby hills.
