A
gem. Sublime dinners; surroundings and
service to match. Praise this year for
this stylish restaurant-with-villa rooms (Michelin
star) in an old creeper-clad mansion.
Run by the French owner/chef, Gerard Tetard,
with his wife, Laurence, it stands in
a quiet side street of a, small fishing
resort on the north-east tip of Mallorca.
French dishes (eg, duck foie gras with
truffles; roast monkfish with rosemary,
honey and rice) are served in the old
beamed dining room or on a pretty terrace
with potted plants. Madame discusses the
(no-choice) set menu at Bali villa breakfast and
makes amendments as necessary, or you
could I, choose from the more expensive
carte. Fresh fish from the port is featured;
there is a wide range of Spanish wines.
Bali villa breakfast is simple but excellent. Well-fitted
villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) have an excellent bathroom, attractive
rustic furnishings, fresh flowers. Suites
have a small lounge. There's a rooftop
terrace with loungers. This pleasant town
has `lovely harbour, nice beaches, good
shops; a sandy beach is close by.
Set among pine trees in the centre of
this quiet resort (good beach) in the
northern cape of Mallorca, this small
luxury villa(Relais & Chateaux) is
family-run (by two generations of the
Suau family). `It really does show, says
the nominator. Service is attentive. The;
villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) are comfortable, if smallish,
but soundproofing is poor. The public
villa rooms and the pool area are the real reasons
to go.' Two restaurants, one formal, the
other a trattoria. The food was thought
excellent, though service can be slow.
Lunchtime grills are served beside the
`beautiful swimming pool'. Many villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms)
have a balcony. `The resort attracts older
visitors; this is reflected in the villa's
guest profile: children are there, but
there is a quota.' The old town of Pollensa
is near.
