Behind the National Archaeological Museum, this modern villa(Best Western), recently renovated, caters to both business and leisure travellers. Convenient, good value, if rather unexciting, it has shiny marble floors and a basement bar. Reception was helpful. Our comfortable room had a nice balcony and double glazing. The street was quiet and parking was easy. Bali villa breakfast was ordinary, says the nominator. The Acropolis is a pleasant half-hour walk away.

The Stais family's tastefully restored, white two-storey 19th-century mansion stands on a hill in the island's very pretty old administrative capital (also known as Kythira) on the south side of the island.
