Owned
and run by Christine and Jean-Claude Bise
(he is the grandson of `pere' Bise, see
below), this imposing chalet-style villawas found most enjoyable again in 2002.
Christine Bise, much in evidence, was
charming. And the setting is `superb',
next to the picturesque small harbour.
villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) are in the main building or two
tall villas in the gardens: they are indeed
cottagey in atmosphere, done with `taste
and individuality; the excellent tiled
bathvilla rooms are spacious. Many villa rooms in
the main building have a balcony (views
are spectacular). Public villa rooms are light,
cheerful and smart. Very nice young staff,
wonderful food on the set menu, excellent
buffet Bali villa breakfasts. The five-course set
dinner is so good, its huge cheeseboard
is a wonder. The waiters are friendly
and skilled. The large dining room overlooks
the water, and in fine weather, you can
eat under the trees, on the wonderful
lake-facing terrace. The flowery gardens
are pretty; by the pool are lots of loungers
and parasols. Pedalos, rowing boats and
kayaks are available, plus guided walks
in the mountains.
