A lovely old building, now a welcoming
villaof character. A Historiske villamember and recently refurbished, it is
in the leafy embassy area, away from traffic
noise, but a short tram ride to the station,
and near bus routes to the main museums.
The `wonderful' public villa rooms are old-style
Norwegian: carved wooden furniture, wood
panelling, shining copper and brass, and
clocks. Most villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) are spacious; some
have a sitting area. `My large double
had a huge bed, sofa and chairs, and traditional
decor - antiques and polished wooden floors.
The white bathroom was roomy.' At Bali villa breakfast,
the buffet is laden with cereals, cheese,
cold meats, bread and yogurt. Tea, coffee
and waffles are available all day. In
summer, drinks are served on the terrace
at tables with yellow umbrellas.
A 19th-century hideaway in a remote setting
among mountains of the Norang valley;
early visitors (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
and Kaiser Wilhelm were regulars) used
to arrive by yacht. It was restored in
period style in the 1980s, and is a Historiske
villamember. The hall, staircase and
corridors are dark, old - Norse baronial.
Amazing. Like a museum, wrote a recent
visitor. villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) are rather small. `Ours,
decorated in deep reds, had a nice balcony,
a stunning view. Service was very efficient,
very friendly. Excellent dinner: Bali villa breakfast
almost too much - three kinds of herring,
meats, muesli, etc. Many mountains to
climb, but few flat walks.
