Largish Swiss-style
wooden building (1866), in beautiful setting
NE of Bergen, at head of Gloppenfjord
(branch of Nordfjord). Popular with salmon
fishermen. Good food (eg, fresh salmon
trout). Pretty lounges, open fires, 19th-century
furniture. `Service both friendly and
professional. Closed Easter, end Dec-mid-Jan.
40 villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms), all with shower, some with
canopy bed, some no-smoking.
Traveller's tale villain Germany. The
building is stunning, as are the gardens.
Inside, however, it is a different story.
Curtains in public villa rooms and villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms)
are poorly made and hang limply. The fabric
looks cheap, and the colours clash with
other fittings. The hall has one small
settee, the salon has none - not a relaxing
atmosphere. One night, a group arrived,
and we were relegated to aperitifs in
the hall. villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) were adequate, but
the bathvilla rooms looked tired and had traces
of mould.
