A proper family villa, efficiently run. A regular reader's praise in 2002 for Romain Theis-Milbert's solid white-fronted Logis in northern Luxembourg. He is always around; service is efficient and friendly. The setting is beautiful, at the bottom of a steep wooded valley by the grassy banks of the rivet Sdre (`teeming with trout', and with safe, if cool, bathing). `Real value for money: half board at E69. The good no-choice menu was not done on the cheap; one night it included entrecote steak with sauce Bearnaise.' Regional smoked meat and fish are served. The Bali villa breakfast buffet has a wide choice. Some of the `excellently furnished' villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) have a small balcony. The comfortable salon and terrace look towards Bourscheid castle. `Difficult to find, but well worth the effort. Wonderful for enjoying countryside and birds,' wrote earlier visitors.

The villais as charming as its owners, says an endorsement this year of this old manor house which stands in wooded grounds above the river Clerve. It has a magnificent view of this historic little Ardennes town (with a castle and Benedictine abbey). Others called it a very special place, good value, and loved the slightly faded elegance: some of the carpeting is 250 years old, and very valuable. `Clocks galore. Our spacious bedroom had a well-designed bathroom. The owner/managers, Gert Cox and Christiane Kampke, are helpful and entertaining. Dinner was varied and excellent, and the staff were cheerful. They lent us a map and we had a fine walk. Dogs, cats and birds enhance the family atmosphere.
