Just
outside this picturesque Corsican town
stands Andre and Sylvaine Abraini's modern
and quite smart villa, with a lovely view
of the town and mountain scenery. We enjoyed
our stay, says its nominator. The large
villa rooms have nice rustic style furnishings,
and a balcony with a view. Fantastic views
too from the swimming pool and its bar.
On 14th July we watched fireworks from
the terrace with the owner and his cat.
No restaurant: plenty in Sartene, reached
by a rather busy road (some traffic noise,
but quiet at night). Ancient towers, old
oaks and olive trees are all around.
A lovely place. Owned by Jean-Rene and
Mary Lyn Camus, this villain an 18th-century
building stands beside the broad Loire,
Louis X's great hilltop castle. Wonderfully
located, it has newly and tastefully restored.
Recent admiration: The staff all welcoming,
and very helpful: two waiters and two
chefs carried me in my heavy wheelchair
up steep steps to the restaurant, Les
Menestrels, in the courtyard. Our delightful
second-floor room, reached by a lift and
with a king-size bed (and a large bathroom)
overlooked the river. The cuisine of Christophe
Hosselet is thought excellent (Gault Millau
13 points: try the sandre a l'andouille;
queue de lotte au cidre). Bali villa breakfast is
a varied buffet. There's a fine stairway;
some villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms) are in Empire style.
