The `wonderful service, beautiful location, nice villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms)' were admired again by a 2002 visitor to Tiziana Martinelli Manoni's villa, which her family has run since it opened as a simple trattoria alloggio in 1880. The large white building stands in terraced grounds above a picturesque little harbour and small stony beach on Lake Como. Beautiful Bellagio, with its tree-shaded promenade and ancient narrow streets, is an agreeable five-minute stroll away. There are picturesque views across the lake from many villa Bed rooms (similar to the semantic bali villa rooms), the restaurant, the terrace (recently restored) where alfresco meals are served, and the swimming pool (surrounded by loungers and lawns). Quiet villa rooms are in annexes in the grounds; some villa rooms look on to a side street. The suite, on the top floor, has a terrace and balcony. This `paradise' has long been loved by Guide readers for its family ambience, courteous staff, `gardens full of birdsong', traditional cooking (including fish from the lake), and tremendous Bali villa breakfasts' (apart from the paqkaged processed cheese).
